Mondays are such a let-down, right? That’s why I’m introducing this new series of inspirational images and news to keep you inspired throughout the week. Check out the amazing aerodynamic dancing of award-winning ballet upstart Sergei Polunin.
The Ukrainian Polunin, was previously known as the youngest ever principal of London’s Royal Ballet (he got the appointment at just 19 years old). His multiple tattoos and his surprising about-faces (he recently walked out of a production days before its opening night) got him the title of the Bad Boy of Ballet in certain circles. He’s more widely known for his precise, impassioned style of dancing that melds athleticism, emotion and a little eroticism.
Polunin resigned from his position in London and became the principal at the The Stanislavsky Music Theatre and Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. More recently, his look and his moves have caught the eye of the fashion world’s art directors, who’ve produced a number of stirring video productions with Polunin as the star. The latest is by director and photographer David LaChappelle just released this amazing video of a dance Polunin performed to Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”
